File Tree Printer 3.0.2.1

File Tree Printer Editor's Review

This software can be used to list the contents of any directory into a text file. When it creates the output file you can choose which way you want the information to be shown. The possible options are 'list view' and 'tree view'. If you choose 'list view', the content of the directory will be shown without indentation. You can also view information about each file's size and creation date.

I needed a software for listing the contents of a DVD, so this program did the trick for me. I didn't need any fancy directory listings, because all I was interested in was to print a simple list of files. In my opinion the printed pages look very nice when you select tree view in the output settings dialog. Listing is possible for any directory, including those on your hard disk. In this case, exporting each file's size may be useful if you want to track any modifications of that file, that were made during time.

This software doesn't really print the listings. It only exports a text file which you can open in any text editor, including Notepad or Wordpad, and print whenever you want. Sometimes listings can be very long, depending on what you want to be listed, so make sure you have enough paper in your printer or that you decrease the font size in your favorite text editor.

Pluses: Very easy to use.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: A very simple yet efficient directory listing software.
